I stumbled across a link to a personality test from Blogthing at this blog I was reading tonight.
Here's what my profile said, although it's an either/or kind of quiz, and in some cases, I didn't really agree with either one of them, or I agreed with both of them. I've highlighted the parts I agree with about myself, just for S's and G's.
----------------------------------------------------------------
You Are An ISFP (I don't know WHAT that means other than it's one of the Myers-Briggs things----oh, it's Introverted Sensing Feeling Perceiving (Introverted Feeling with Extroverted Sensing)

The Artist

You are a gifted artist or musician (though your talents may be dormant right now). You enjoy spending your free time in nature, and you are good with animals and children. Simply put, you enjoy beauty in all its forms and live for the simple pleasures in life. Gentle, sensitive, and compassionate - you are good at recognizing people's unspoken needs. In love, you are quiet and sweet (hah!) yet very passionate. You love easily. You have an underlying love for all living things, and it's easy for you to accept someone into your heart. At work, you do best in an unconventional position. You express yourself well and can work with almost anyone. You would make a good veterinarian, pediatrician, or composer. How you see yourself: Sympathetic, kind, and communicative When other people don't get you, they see you as: Incompetent, insecure, and overly sensitive
-------------------------
Okay, that just made me curious, so here's another link I found with more information about the Myers-Briggs personality types. Here are some things I agreed with from their description.
  • As an ISFP, your primary mode of living is focused internally, where you deal with things according to how you feel about them...
  • They are keenly in tune with the way things look, taste, sound, feel and smell
  • They have a strong set of values, which they strive to consistently meet in their lives.
  • They need to feel as if they're living their lives in accordance with what they feel is right, and will rebel against anything which conflicts with that goal...
  • ISFPs tend to be quiet and reserved, and difficult to get to know well. They hold back their ideas and opinions except from those who they are closest to. They are likely to be kind, gentle and sensitive in their dealings with others. They are interested in contributing to people's sense of well-being and happiness, and will put a great deal of effort and energy into tasks which they believe in.
  • They're original and independent, and need to have personal space. They value people who take the time to understand the ISFP, and who support the ISFP in pursuing their goals in their own, unique way.
  • ISFPs are action-oriented individuals. They are "doers", and are usually uncomfortable with theorizing concepts and ideas, unless they see a practical application.
  • They learn best in a "hands-on" environment, and easily bored with the traditional teaching methods
  • ...decisions are evaluated against their subjective beliefs, rather than against some objective rules or laws.
  • ISFPs are extremely perceptive and aware of others. They constantly gather specific information about people, and seek to discover what it means. They are usually penetratingly accurate in their perceptions of others.
  • ISFPs have no desire to lead or control others, just as they have no desire to be led or controlled by others. They need space and time alone to evaluate the circumstances of their life against their value system, and are likely to respect other people's needs for the same.
  • The ISFP is likely to not give himself enough credit for the things which they do extremely well...intensely perfectionist...judge themselves with unneccessary harshness.
  • Life is not likely to be extremely easy for the ISFP, because they take life so seriously...

Okay, most of that was scarily "me"---I wonder...if I took the little quiz tomorrow or the next day, would the results be the same? I'd be interested to hear if those of you who know me think that's accurate or way off base. Is my self-image the way you guys see me? And do I really want to know that?

If you're interested in a little self-analysis, I'd suggest doing the personality test first, then going to the link for the Myers-Briggs descriptions more information. Let me know what YOU are!

It is you, some of it doesn't quite fit but the personal space and no desire to be led or controlled......hmmmm. Plus the super creative comments, it was a little creepy how detailed that was. I may have to check out the quiz.
