How Time Flies...

...when you're doing absolutely nothing.  I guess I'm back from my unintentional hiatus, although the way things are going, I have NOTHING to write about.  You know why?  Because I've been stuck in my flipping house for what seems like months, and when I'm stuck in the house with nowhere to go and nothing to do, that's exactly what I do...NOTHING.  That damn law of inertia will get me every time.  You know, "an object in motion stays in motion...an object at rest stays at rest."  That is, until acted upon by an equal and oppposite force.  Well, there's no equal OR opposite force here, so here I am.

Let me explain, for those of you who don't live in the Arctic Circle (Don't worry, Alisha, you can read this too, LOL!), because that's apparently where I've been teleported, house and all.  Uncle Bob died a couple of weeks ago (I don't even know when anymore, because I have no idea what day it is), and we (the whole famn damily-brother, niece, sisters, dad, hubby, son, and I) went to Pennsylvania for the services.  I should post about the trip--we're a difficult bunch, and while we were in two vehicles and two hotel rooms, it might as well have been one.  Anyway, we left Pennsylvania on Sunday the somethingth (a week ago?  maybe?) knowing we were driving into the remnants of a snowstorm, and as we drove further south on interstate, the snow started appearing.  By the time we got home, there were about nine inches on the ground.  Well, so school was cancelled Monday, which was a relief because a little recuperation time after a road trip is always needed.  Then school was cancelled Tuesday.  And Wednesday.  And there might have been more weather in there somewhere, but I can't remember.  And school was cancelled again Thursday.

Just when it looked like we might possibly go back to school, Snowmageddon hit Friday, and continued to hit Saturday.  The Snowpocalypse left us with about 18 inches, on TOP OF the six we still had on the ground from the previous weekend.  So, here I am...school is cancelled.  Again.  I've lost track of this too, but the district has used up ALL of its built-in days.  They've cancelled a parent conference day to make it a make-up day, and now the days are tacking on the end of the year.  UGGGH.  Now, a few years ago, this wouldn't have been a big deal.  But for the last few years, we've had a surplus of make-up days left over...in fact, last year, they gave us days BACK.  Don't get me wrong, I LOVE a good snow day or two, but this is getting ridiculous.  Snow days are like house guests--one or two is fine, and they need to spread themselves out to avoid getting on my damn nerves.

Most likely school will be cancelled again tomorrow.  This is a big county, and there are tons of subdivisions in the rural areas and a lot of windy country roads that are a pisser in bad weather.  On top of that, we're getting MORE blankety-blanking snow tomorrow, so that probably shoots the rest of the week too.  Big sigh.  I'm going to need an intervention by the time this is all over, because I won't know HOW to leave the house.  See, when I don't HAVE to go anywhere, I don't.  I could easily go out shopping and to lunch and running errands on these days off (if I could brave our looge  luge  skislope of a driveway), but I don't.  I'm doing well if I get out of my pajamas and do a load of laundry.  For some reason, because my brain associates snow days with lazy days spent in PJs and watching bad t.v. (don't get me started on Wife Swap and Hoarders), it refuses to allow me to do much else.  The thought of showering and then actually getting fixed up to go somewhere instead of putting on barettes and clean sweatpants is just TOO daunting.  The Super Bowl wasn't even an event in my brain--the high point of Super Bowl Sunday was our old, out of shape cat catching and killing a mouse.  ('Atta girl!)

James has gone to work most of these days, with the exception of Friday, which was his birthday.  Andrew stayed home Monday, Tuesday, and Friday last week, but went to daycare/preschool Wednesday and Thursday...One, because I'm flipping paying for it whether he goes or not, and Two, because he would be bored and I would have to watch shows involving super heroes if she stayed home.  No, really, it's because I do not want to encourage MY antisocial and antimotivated tendencies in him...he'll have more fun there, and the non-slug routine is good for him.  So, the house is quiet, the dryer is broken, and the t.v. is on.  And I...am an object at rest.

Technically I live hundreds of miles south of the arctic circle and we WISH we had that much snow. We have still only gotten a few inches on the ground...just enough to make riding a snow machine barely feasible. Sounds like you could use a snowmobile in your life! :)

During the last snow, I alternated watching "Sleepless in Seattle" with "You've Got Mail", both of which apparently are always playing somewhere on television. And I don't even think I wore clean pajama bottoms every day. :)

We may get snow...we will see...because we don't ever get snow....
